Preparing to go off to College

August 12th, 2009

Growing up is a difficult and scar situation for everyone. It is a time to overcome monstrous battles with yourself and those who are close to you. For the first time, you have to part with all those things and people who are close to you. It is an experience everyone looks foreword to, but is still scary to experience it. Depending on where you move, you may need to get some odd things in order first. If you’re going to a big city like LA, you may want to call a Los Angeles 3PL just in case you have too much stuff for a small apartment. You may also want to think about getting a Los Angeles contract warehouse to keep your life in working order.

A college student from Ohio experienced some major issues during one summer she spent at home. She had so much stuff; she had to store her stuff in the city over the summer. She enlisted in the help of a college service that picks up and drops off the boxes that need to be stored. Unfortunately, when she went to move back into her dorm, there were only two boxes waiting for her. The service lost half of her boxes. Before you leave your important things in someone else’s hands, you need to make sure you can trust them. You don’t want to have to go through the troubles that this college girl had to deal with. Always use a service that someone you know has dealt with before so that nothing bad happens.

Also, make sure you have all of the things you will need to live on for a year alone. Target has a great pamphlet that lists all of the things you will need for being in college. They have a list for health, school, housing needs, and extra things for those who will be living in an apartment. Essential items to get if you are living in a dorm are things like a shower caddy with toiletries, a robe, a towel set and organizational unite. Life will be very difficult without these items. Just image how difficult it will be to shower in a community shower without a robe and shower caddy.
Another factor to take into consideration is meal plans and grocery allowances. In general, colleges have meals lpans that you can subscribe to. Some have a credit system where you put money on a card that is accepted at most places on and around the campus. There are also meal plans at the dining hall. If you luck out, you could end up at a college that does an unlimited meal plan. This plan is awesome because you can eat a lot of food for a pretty good price.

You want to avoid making moving away any more painful than it already is. There doesn’t need to be any anger or stress mixed into such a highly emotionally time.
